Funding Applications Received

To consider funding applications received.

Minutes:

The Funding Sub-Committee considered the following applications.

18.1

NLY Community Sport Ltd, 'Selby Disability Football Club', £1,000 pdf icon PDF 559 KB

Additional documents:

Minutes:

The application was for £1,000 for the Selby Disability Football Club.

The Sub-Committee heard a short presentation from the applicants about the aims of the project.

Members of the Funding Sub-Committee asked a number of questions regarding the involvement of IHL (Inspiring Healthy Lifestyles) at Selby Leisure Centre, the company organisation of NLY Community Sports Ltd., the accounts, remuneration levels and the income generated from coaching sessions.

The Sub Committee considered the application against the funding framework and expressed their support for the enthusiasm there was locally for disabled football, and the success of some of the players, one of whom had been picked for the Mencap GB Team.

However, the sub-committee did feel that there were other funding avenues and support that would be more appropriate for this particular project which could be explored by the applicants. The Board also felt it could be explored with IHL about assisting the applicants with the cost of pitch hire.

RESOLVED:

i.     To recommend to the Partnership Board that the application for a grant of £1,000 be refused.

ii.    To suggest that NLY Community Sport Ltd. work with IHL at Selby Leisure Centre to investigate how IHL can assist further with the funding and development of disability football in Selby.

iii.To encourage NLY Community Sport Ltd to explore alternative funding avenues for the disability football project, such as Sport England.

18.2

Selby RUFC Under 15 Boys, 'Selby Under 15 Boys Tour Funding', £500 pdf icon PDF 397 KB

Additional documents:

Minutes:

The application was for £500 for the Selby Under 15 Boys Tour Funding.

The Sub-Committee heard a short presentation from the applicants about the aims of the project.

Members of the Funding Sub-Committee asked a number of questions regarding the specific uses of the money and what other funding had been received; it was confirmed by the applicants that £250 of funding had been awarded by the Eastern CEF. The Sub-Committee also noted that whilst payments were being made through Selby Rugby Club’s account, the money would not be going towards the club itself; the club’s account was being used purely for administrative reasons.

The Sub-Committee considered the application against the funding framework and confirmed that it met the requirements. The Sub-Committee were pleased to note that the applicants had already raised the majority of the funds themselves through various fundraising activities, and as such, felt that the CEF should support the application for the Under 15 Boys Tour Funding.

RESOLVED:

To recommend to the Partnership Board that a grant of £500 be approved for the Selby Under 15 Boys Tour Funding.

18.3

Flaxley Road Tenants and Residents Association, 'Funding for a Community Defibrillator and Cabinet', £1,000 pdf icon PDF 217 KB

Additional documents:

Minutes:

The application was for £1,000 for the Funding for a Community Defibrillator and cabinet.

The Sub-Committee heard a short presentation from the applicants about the aims of the project.

Members of the Funding Sub-Committee asked a number of questions regarding the project, including any funding contributions from the TARA, who would be trained to use the defibrillator and how, the siting and fitting of the defibrillator and how it would be kept secure.

The Sub Committee considered the application against the funding framework and confirmed that it met the requirements. The Sub Committee felt that the application deserved the backing of the CEF due to the importance of having a lifesaving device available in the local community.

RESOLVED:

To recommend to the Partnership Board that a grant of £1,000 to the Flaxley Road TARA be approved for the funding of a community defibrillator and cabinet.
