It would be helpful if a fixed penalty notice was issued to “feeders" of Seabirds in towns e.g. Whitby and Scarborough.
Having been a resident here now for 13 years, observing the problems of over breeding, fouling and gull attacks, this has increased exponentially in that time. Much of this could be partially alleviated with an active policy of imposing penalties on visitors and domestic householders alike who persist in the un-natural feeding of scavenging sea birds.

North Yorkshire Council is currently working towards adopting a Seagull Strategy in early 2026.
