Proposed Amendments- Woodland Play Area

 

The Supporting Statement submitted with the application makes reference to the omission of 2 no. play areas (‘Hedgehog’ and ‘Squirrel’) and a reduction to 1 no. play area (‘Active Play’). However, a comparison between the approved plans and the proposed Layout Plan since the report was written has revealed that a slight reduction in the safety surfacing towards the northern section of the ‘Woodland Play Area’ is also proposed. The agent has now clarified that in addition to a reduction in surfacing, some pieces of equipment would also be omitted from this play area.

 

Officer Commentary

 

These changes to the approved play areas, along with others already referred to in the Officer Report have been deemed necessary due to the need to work around existing utilities and infrastructure on site within those locations, but also as part of a broader cost-efficiency review of the development.

 

Officers do not consider that this update changes the conclusions already reached in the report and are of the view that the benefits of the wider scheme coming forward would outweigh what is still considered to be an overall moderate loss.
