Resident of Kings Mill Lane. Sowarth Field is used by a constant stream of pedestrians walking from Settle to Giggleswick via the footbridge. Many people walk on the road because the pavement is narrow on the west side of the road. removing parking will increase traffic speed and pedestrians will be endangered.
|
The footway widths on both sides of Sowarth Field is 2.0m, which is the desirable Minimum footway width for comfortable pedestrian movement. Removing parking will encourage pedestrians to use the footway where vehicles park on the pavement. |

Resident of Kings Mill Lane. There is a lack of parking within Kings Mill Lane. The proposed area for double yellow lines is where many residents of Kings Mill Lane Park. Park cars slow down traffic heading towards the Garden Centre. Despite the large number of commercial vehicles there has never been a problem. |
Your officer is satisfied that the proposals are complicit with the section 122 duty. However, drivers will have the opportunity to park in the unrestricted section where parking is available on Kings Mill Lane and Sowarth Field. There are no restrictions proposed for the section of Road (Kings Mill Lane) leading to the Garden Centre.

Business Owner Sowarth Field If this goes ahead it would have dire consequences to my business, no customer parking, no deliveries able to off load, no traders able to park outside. If you decide to carry out this idea it should only be lined on one side of the road (the 140m north Stretch) so as to leave at least some parking for our businesses. |
There are exceptions to double yellow lines, drivers can briefly load/unload goods or set down/pick up passengers. Therefore, deliveries will not be affected by the proposals. Customers will have the opportunity to park in the unrestricted section where parking is available. Placing restriction only on the western side of Sowarth Field would cause the parking problem to migrate on to the eastern side, causing the same traffic issues that exists at the present time. |
