Equality Impact Assessments (EIAs) are public documents. EIAs accompanying reports going to County Councillors for decisions are published with the committee papers on our website and are available in hard copy at the relevant meeting. To help people to find completed EIAs we also publish them in the Equality and Diversity section of our website. This will help people to see for themselves how we have paid due regard in order to meet statutory requirements.

This report is to gain support for the improvements required to the basketball court, Jennyfields Drive, Harrogate using S106 Parks and Open Spaces money from developers.

Section 2. Why is this being proposed? What are the aims? What does the authority hope to achieve by it? (e.g., to save money, meet increased demand, do things in a better way.) · The meet demands from the local community to improve the current facility · To ensure the facility doesn’t fall into a state of disrepair · To provide better facilities for all to enjoy sport and recreation outside

Section 3. What will change? What will be different for customers and/or staff?
The current outdoor sports facility will be improved and enhanced by adding fencing, surfacing and court markings. This will provide a better more accessible facility for all. |

Section 4. Involvement and consultation (What involvement and consultation has been done regarding the proposal and what are the results? What consultation will be needed and how will it be done?)
Full public consultation has been undertaken with a clear survey online for feedback from all and any users or local residents. Overall 130 people participated in the online survey with 98% supportive of the basketball court being improved, particularly in relation to basketball and netball with some interest in football being considered too.
This feedback has been used to develop detailed information for the procurement process with contractoris. |

Costs will be met from S106 (Developers contributions) funding allocated to this site, therefore the project will be cost neutral

The EIA of the proposal has indicated a modest benefit to people who have a low income as the facility will be free at the point of use to access. Access in some cases will be improved and facilities will cater for a wider range of abilities.
