STATEMENT OF THE CHAIR OF TRANSPORT, ECONOMY, ENVIRONMENT AND ENTERPRISE OVERVIEW AND SCRUTINY COMMITTEE

The next meeting of the Transport, Economy, Environment & Enterprise Overview and Scrutiny Committee is scheduled to take place on Monday 6 July 2026 at County Hall, after the deadline for the submission of my statement.

 

The following items are set to be considered as part of the agenda:

 

·         Motion on Supporting and Strengthening Community Transport

·         Section 19 Flooding Evaluation Reports Process Evaluation

·         NY Highways Annual Report 2025/26

·         Urban Gull Strategy

 

Following our last committee meeting in April, a briefing was held on 29 May for committee members on the York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority Strategy for a Sustainable Future, to feed views and comments into the consultation response submitted by the Council as part of the public consultation process. Members welcomed the strategy and the proposed response, but raised concerns about the level of aspiration shown in the document and the need to look more at new and emerging climate technologies, as these could help the region to be planning ahead now to secure maximum benefit from them.
