To award the contract for Pinder Canal Bridge,
repainting works to Hankinsons Ltd for £91,442.00. The scheme
is from the Highways Capital Budget.
Pinder Canal Bridge carries the A6131 Keighley
Road across the Leeds & Liverpool Canal in Skipton. Existing
paint coating has deteriorated & the structure is corroding in
all areas and will continue to corrode until the paint coating is
renewed. The A6131 is a priority route as well as the canal network
being nationally important & repairs are considered to be a
high priority. A procurement exercise was carried out using the
Painting Framework.
Closure of Keighley Road and the canal in
order to carry out the work more quickly has been considered and
rejected due to the significance of Keighley Road and also the
canal.
