Marage Path - Award of Contract
Decision Maker: Corporate Director of Business and Environmental Services
Decision status: Recommendations Approved
Is Key decision?: No
Is subject to call in?: No
Decision:
Award of the contract for Marage Path
Retaining Wall (No.3845.1) Rebuild to Wilf Noble Construction for
£226,079.
This is a capital scheme and exceeds the budget of £180,000
from the reserve created. The difference will be made up from the
H&T Capital Programme Allocation.
Reasons for the decision:
The wall is in a very poor condition and in
need of a repair. Temporary works to get it through Christmas 2022
are already beginning to fail and a full rebuild of the wall is
required. The Bid tender has been accepted as it is close to the
estimated cost and is most likely higher due to current levels of
inflation
Alternative options considered:
The path sits atop and 1.5 to 2m high wall,
running close to the river, with a listed monument behind it. The
only option is to rebuild the wall, maintaining its appearance
whilst also making it more robust against the effects of the
river.
