Decision details
Appointment to a vacancy on the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority
Decision Maker: Chief Executive Officer
Decision status: Recommendations Approved
Is Key decision?: No
Is subject to call in?: No
Decision:
After consideration of a report of the
Assistant Chief Executive (Legal and Democratic Services) regarding
an appointment to a vacancy on the Yorkshire Dales National Park
Authority, the Chief Executive Officer has appointed County
Councillor Yvonne Peacock to that position.
Reasons for the decision:
Under his delegated decision making powers in
the Officers’ Delegation Scheme in the Council’s
Constitution, the Chief Executive Officer has power, in cases of
emergency, to take any decision which could be taken by the
Council, the Executive or a committee.
The sad and untimely death of County Councillor Richard Welch in
January 2021 means that there is a vacancy on the Yorkshire Dales
National Park Authority for a Conservative Councillor. The
appointments to the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority are
made at County Council. The next meeting of the County Council is
on 19 May 2021. The Leader has requested that an appointment be
made as a matter of urgency. As such, the matter has been brought
to the Chief Executive Officer for consideration, using his
delegated emergency decision-making powers.
The Leader has nominated County Councillor Yvonne Peacock (Con).
County Councillor Peacock represents the Upper Dales Division,
which is within the area of the national park.
