Decision:

That having undertaken the required preliminary checks, the Executive Member resolved that the four key issues listed in paragraph 8.2 have been satisfied and there can be a determination of the proposals.

That the following proposal be determined:

1. To cease to maintain Ingleby Arncliffe Church of England Voluntary Aided Primary School with effect from 31 December 2017.

2. To extend the catchment area of Appleton Wiske Community Primary School with effect from 1 January 2018 to serve the area currently served by Ingleby Arncliffe CE VA Primary School.

3. That the transport qualifying period should be from April 2017 under the terms set out in sections 5.3.1 to 5.3.9 of the report to the Governing Body dated 14 April 2017 (attached as annex B to the report to the Executive Member)

Reasons for the decision:

On 3 April 2017 the Governing Body gave approval to consult publicly on a proposal to close the school from 31 December 2017. The consultation period ran from 28 April t 9 June 2017 with consultation documents distributed to a wide range of stakeholders. The Governing Body met on 14 June 2017 to consider the outcome of the consultation and resolved to proceed with publication of statutory notices, which were published on 23 June 2017. No responses were received to the statutory notices by the end of the notice period on 21 July.

Under the arrangements agreed by Executive on 25 September 2007, school organisation decisions, for which the decision maker is the Local Authority, will normally be taken by the County Council’s Executive or, if there are no objections to the Statutory Notice, the decision is delegated to the Executive Members for Schools.
