Following on from decision BES 21 19, by the Executive Member for Access to recommend to the Corporate Director Strategic Resources that funding be accepted for the roll-out of a local full fibre network for public premises throughout North Yorkshire and that as a consequence, the Corporate Director Strategic Resources awards the contract to SDC for delivery of the network, the Corporate Director Strategic Resources along with NYnet has now awarded the contract to SDC.

Funding was secured by NYCC for the roll-out of a full fibre network following a bid submitted by NYCC / NYNet. A procurement was subsequently initiated and SDC have successfully been awarded the contract for delivery. This issue has been reported on a number of occasions to the Executive as part of quarterly updates; to full Council through the Executive Member for Access; and through the Superfast North Yorkshire Board.
