The Executive agreed on 16 October 2018 to the publication of a
statutory proposal to expand Overdale Community Primary School to
420 places in an expanded building on a new site with a published
admission number of 60 with effect from September 2020. Funding
towards the development was approved by the Executive in July 2018
and a planning application has been submitted for a scheme to be
completed by June 2020. The proposed new school site to accommodate
this expansion is located on a new housing development near the
existing school site and the need for additional places is
generated by this housing growth.
Following approval of the Executive on 16 October, statutory
notices were published for a period of four weeks and within that
time no representations were received regarding the proposal. The
School fully support the expansion.
Under the arrangements agreed by Executive on 25 September 2007,
school organisation decisions, for which the decision maker is the
Local Authority, will normally be taken by the County
Council’s Executive or, if there are no objections to the
Statutory Notice, the decision is delegated to the Executive Member
for Education and Skills.
In considering proposals for a school
expansion, the Executive Member for Education & Skills as
decision maker can decide to:
? reject the proposal
? approve the proposal
? approve the proposal with modifications
? approve the proposal subject to them meeting a specific
condition
