Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: No

Decision:

Approval to consult the Catterick community about the future pattern of school provision in the area in order to inform future decisions.

Reasons for the decision:

On 21 July 2015 Executive Members were briefed on the emerging demand for additional primary school places in Catterick resulting from the combined impact of the rebasing of army personnel and the developing Richmondshire Local Plan.

It is considered that the complex picture in Catterick will require a review of the overall pattern of educational provision including early years and secondary provision but focussed mainly on primary school places.

Informal discussions took place with school leaders in the area on 18 November 2015. It is now proposed that a wider piece of non-statutory consultation and engagement should be undertaken with local stakeholders, including parents, to seek views on a range of options for future educational provision.
