North Yorkshire Council intends to enter an
agreement with the adjacent landowner of a Retaining Wall near
Linton, for the dedication of approximately 610m2 area of land for
highway purposes pursuant to section 72 of the Highways Act
1980.
A scheme has been brought forward to remediate
an unstable retaining wall near Linton, following the collapse of a
5m section of the wall in 2024. It is proposed to construct an
embankment to replace the retained part of the wall and relocate
the retaining wall to base of the slope to stabilise the structure.
Dedication of the adjoining land to highway is required to
construct the embankment.
Reconstruction of the retaining wall was
considered however an embankment solution was chosen as the best
option to reduce the structures whole life cost.
