Decision:
To award a supply and installation contract to
Axo Leisure Services Limited at a value of £68,000 + VAT for
ground works and improvement to the existing basketball court, to
create a more user-friendly site for the benefit of both basketball
and netball at Jennyfields Sports, Jennyfields Drive
Harrogate.
Reasons for the decision:
A procurement exercise was undertaken during
Autumn 2025. The scheme is programmed to commence on site in April
and complete in May 2026.
Alternative options considered:
The option to not award contract on a best
value basis was considered but rejected. It would result in the
S106 funds expiring and being returned to the developer. This would
result in the outdoor sports facility being in a poor state of
repair and requiring closure and removal. This would reduce
children and young peoples opportunities to play and learn.
