Under the arrangements agreed by Executive on 25 September 2007, school organisation decisions, for which the decision maker is the Local Authority, will normally be taken by the County Council’s Executive or, if there are no objections to the Statutory Notice, the decision is delegated to the Executive Members for Schools.

The Governing Body of Rathmell CE VA Primary School agreed on 7 February 2017 to request a consultation on a proposal to close the school. The consultation period ran from 17 February to 24 March 2017 and the Governors met on 3 April to consider the outcomes of the public consultation. They agreed to publish statutory notices to close the school from 31 August 2017 and these were published on 11 May 2017. No responses were received following the publication of the Statutory Notices.
