That a contract shall be procured for the
provision of underwater inspections and maintenance, the contract
will run from October 2021 to October 2025. The form of contract
will be a NEC4 Term Service Short Contract.
As part of the Highways Asset management plan
underwater inspection are carried out on the most at risk
structures as well as additional inspections will be carried out
after localised flood events. Small repair jobs in otherwise
difficult locations to due water depth and speed are also difficult
for most contractors to undertake, the use of a
“diving” framework to carry out works ensures that
repairs can be prioritised and undertaken quickly and
effectively.
The NYCC highways consultant (WSP) could carry
out the inspections, however they would need to subcontract out to
specialist firms.
