The proposed changes to the signing on the west-bound approach to the ‘S’ bends on A6068 at Cowling be approved and funded using the local Area 5 signing and lining budget;

The installation of the three traffic islands as proposed on the plan detailed in Appendix A of the report is approved, to be funded from the Traffic Engineering Road Safety budget.

To address concerns raised by the local community regarding the signing of a short series of bends to the west of the village and to mitigate the speed of vehicles and unsafe overtaking on the A6068 at the east end of the village.

Introduction of a 40mph through the bends was considered but did not comply with DfT guidelines.
Alternative measures to stop overtaking were investigated but discounted as likely to be less effective than recommended proposal.
