To approve public consultation on a proposal that the County Council should close Arkengarthdale Church of England Voluntary Controlled Primary School from 31 August 2019.

At a governing body meeting at Arkengarthdale Church of England Voluntary Controlled Primary School on Thursday 15 November 2018 it was resolved, with regret and reluctance to ask the Local Authority to consult on closure proposals. The motion, based on the view that it will no longer be possible to provide the full spectrum and quality of educational experiences for all key stages, was passed unanimously.

Under the arrangements agreed by The Executive on 25 September 2007, decisions to approve public consultation on school organisation proposals for which the decision maker is the Local Authority, will normally be taken by the Executive Members for Schools.
