That the following proposal be determined:

• To cease to maintain Arkengarthdale CE VC Primary School with effect from 31 August 2019.

• To extend the catchment area of Reeth Community Primary School with effect from 1 September 2019 to serve the area currently served by Arkengarthdale CE VC Primary School.

On 16 April 2019 The Executive approved the publication of statutory proposals to close Arkengarthdale Church of England Voluntary Controlled Primary School with effect from 31 August.

Statutory notices were published on 2 May 2019 for a period of four weeks until 30 May 2019 and within that time no representations were received regarding the proposals.

Under the arrangements agreed by Executive on 25 September 2007, school organisation decisions, for which the decision maker is the Local Authority, will normally be taken by the County Council’s Executive or, if there are no objections to the Statutory Notice, the decision is delegated to the Executive Member for Education and Skills.
