Decision:

Following the approval of the service model by the Executive at its meeting on 17 December 2019, the Corporate Director - Children and Young People’s Service agreed the implementation of Option 3 (a mix of permanent and relief staff to allow additional support as and when needed) as the appropriate staffing model and structure for the new Medical Education Service.

Reasons for the decision:

*PLEASE NOTE This decision was originally published on or near the date of the decision and so call in no longer applies. It has been re-published as part of the change in committee management system that we use.*

The Executive approved the new Medical Education Service model at its meeting on 17 December 2019 for implementation as from September 2020. A number of staff models have been considered and the Corporate Director has approved Option 3 as offering flexibility to utilise a mix of permanent and relief tutors to meet the needs of the service.

This will include Medical Education Service Lead, 3 x Coordinators, 4 FTE Maths Teachers, 4 FTE English Teachers, 4 FTE Higher Level Teaching Assistants permanent staffing plus additional Relief Teachers and HLTAs as required.

Alternative options considered:

Option 1 – retain current model – not possible as provision through EMS and PRS will end with effect from 31 July 2020
Option 2 – relief model – Medical Lead and 3 coordinators as option 3 but no core teaching staff employed with all remaining tuition hours employed as relief.
