From 13 April the 580 bus service from Settle – Skipton
was suddenly reduced from an hourly to a two hourly service outside
peak hours, representing a loss of three round trips.
The changes have damaged the lives of those who depend on the 580
for a variety of uses: doctor, hospital & dental appointments;
access to the countryside, sport or exercise; volunteering;
shopping; social interaction; work and college; and for those with
limited mobility, just a lift up the road.
We are seeing overcrowding on the remaining services with people
standing.
The cuts also affect onward connections in Settle or Skipton.
We call on North Yorkshire Council as the transport authority to
restore the 580 bus service to an hourly timetable.
