The Housing Standards Team to procure a contract for the servicing, maintenance and repairs of North Yorkshire Council’s stock of septic tanks and pumping stations. These are located through out the district serving both local authority and owner-occupied properties to effectively manage the treatment and transfer of effluent waste.

The proposed contract will support the Council in meeting its legal duties and providing independent assurance across key compliance areas, Regular professional maintenance has become a legal requirement under the rules. Systems must be desludged at appropriate intervals, typically every 12-24 months depending on household size and usage patterns. Records of this maintenance should be kept and made available to regulatory authorities upon request.

Approval is requested to undertake a procurement exercise for a contract with an initial term of two years, with the option to extend for two further 12 month periods (2+1 + 1 years), subject to satisfactory performance and continued operational need.
