Decision:

To agree the Local Eligibility Framework and Approach for the allocation of Household Support Fund to provide support to households who would otherwise struggle to buy food or pay essential utility bills or meet other essential living costs this winter. The £3.54m allocation is being made available to NYCC by DWP to cover the period October 2021 to March 2022. Funding will be provided through supermarket vouchers, food banks, Warm and Well, and NYLAF.

Reasons for the decision:

DWP requires local authorities to have a Local Eligibility Framework and Approach for the allocation of Household Support Fund before the funding can be utilised.

Alternative options considered:

Not to utilise the allocation – this would have resulted in additional support not being available to residents of the North Yorkshire
