Ombudsman Public Report 20002823

Decision Maker: Executive Member for Adult Social Care & Health Integration, incl Health & Wellbeing Board and Extra Care

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: No

Purpose:

To note comments within the report and the actions undertaken as instructed by the Ombudsman

Decision:

Cllr Harrison considered and noted the content of the Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman public report and accepted the findings and recommendations in respect of Adult Social Care.

Cllr Harrison also noted the actions being taken by Health and Adult Services to address the recommendations.

Reasons for the decision:

The Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman (LGSCO) has recently published a report outlining its findings into a complaint about North Yorkshire County Council. The Ombudsman upheld the complaint after it found fault in how the County Council failed to advise of the change in the way it assessed finances which resulted in the individual becoming responsible for their full care costs.

The Council has accepted the recommendations of the report, and acknowledges that there are improvements to be made in some of the practices and processes, some of which have already been implemented.
