Following the publication of statutory notices, to seek approval to
lower the school age range of Goathland Community Primary School
from 25 April 2022.
That having undertaken the required
preliminary checks, the Executive Member resolved that the four key
issues listed in section 8.2 of the report have been satisfied and
there can be a determination of the proposals as follows:
That the following proposal be determined:
To lower the age range of Goathland Community Primary School to age
3-11 with effect from 25 April 2022.
The Governing Body of Goathland School has
asked the Local Authority to propose lowering of the age range of
their school from 4-11 to 3-11 in order to offer nursery education
for three and four year old children. The Governing Body consulted
with parents and the local community on their proposal from 1
November to 3 December 2021.
The Executive met on 11 January 2022 and considered the outcome of
the governors’ consultation. They agreed to publish statutory
proposals on 21 January giving 4 weeks until 18 February for
representations to be made. There have been no objections or
responses to the statutory notice. There have been no objections or

In considering proposals, the Executive (or
the Executive Member for Schools, if there are no objections
received during the representation period), as Decision Makers can
decide to:
• reject the proposals;
• approve the proposals with a modification;
• approve the proposals subject to them meeting a specific
condition.
