A contract be awarded to Thomas Armstrong
Construction Ltd for the provision of carrying out a maintenance
works contract to Gray Bridge, North Yorkshire. The form of
contract will be a NEC4 ECC Option A and awarded under the CECF
2021 for the sum of £51,188.00.
NYCC has a statutory duty to maintain its
Highway structures under Highways Act 1980, the bridge requires
strengthening works to ensure it is fit for purpose.
The alternative is to not do anything could
result in a continued deterioration of the structure which would
require restrictions on use in the near future, resulting in a
longer closure and higher expense to rebuild as well as disruption
for any imposed weight restrictions on quarry traffic which
frequently use the bridge.
