The award of a contract for the technical
support and maintenance of MapInfo Pro a geographical information
system to CDR Group Ltd. Support for the system has been in place
since 1 May 2019, and the contract will run until 30 April 2024,
with the option for a 12-month extension.
The whole life cost is £115,000 (exc VAT).
MapInfo is the primary North Yorkshire Council
(the Council) Geographical Information System (GIS) providing the
collection, analysis and publishing of maps and spatial information
related to council activities from Public Rights of Way and
Emergency Planning to School Route Finder analysis for the Council.
CDR Group have been providing the support and maintenance of
MapInfo since May 2019.
It is hoped that the minimum possible time is needed to complete
the necessary transformational work in line with the GIS Strategy,
however, an optional 12 further months have been requested to allow
additional time if required.
Retaining the existing contract will allow time to review GIS
systems across the new authority as part of a wider
transformational project. It will give the new authority the
opportunity to consolidate GIS and contracts to provide the most
appropriate, value for money GIS for the new authority and ensure
services are appropriately supported, resourced and
maintained.
A change in supplier would be disruptive. It
would require an upgrade of the system which would be substantial
work and cause disruption to service delivery at a time when there
are other LGR priorities and resource demands. Staying with the
same supplier would minimise disruption and enable us to go to
market as part of a new authority GIS transformation
project.
