To retain the existing Traffic Regulation
Order (TRO) of 1999 (7.5 tonne weight restriction in a zone
covering various roads in the Asenby, Rainton and Topcliffe area)
in its current form until 6 months following the completion of all
of the signage improvements on both the local road network (managed
by NYC) and the strategic road network (managed by National
Highways).
Reasons for the decision:
Further time is required to implement the
proposed signage improvements on both the local and strategic road
networks which, it is hoped, will have the desired effect of
reducing the number of HGV movements through the village of
Topcliffe.
Alternative options considered:
A further consultation on potential amendments
to the existing TRO, to be carried out prior to the completion of
the proposed improvements to the traffic signs.
