To seek approval to award contract for repair
works to be carried out at Foregill Bridge, Richmond.
To award an NEC 4 ECC Option E contract
through the CECF 2021 Lot 3 for the rebuild of Foregill Bridge to
CR Reynolds Ltd.
To start repair works as soon as possible to
make safe.
The structure is partially collapsed, measures have been undertaken
to stabilise it in the short term including weekly monitoring
visits. During the temporary stabilisation works, two large voids
within the structure were uncovered.
Various maintenance and contract options were
considered. Despite all best efforts to minimise risk on an Option
A-D contract, we think that the unknowns, timescales and third
parties outside of our control still pose a significant financial
risk to the project. It was decided that an Option E contract is
the best way forward, allowing the opportunity to react to changes
without incurring so much of the expense.
