Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) Checks in Workplaces

Decision Maker: Assistant Director - Resources (HAS)

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: No

Decision:

To accept funding of £58,800 from the Department of Health and Social Care to deliver CVD checks, in a variety of workplaces as part of a pilot programme. The funding will be used to target those who are less likely to attend for an NHS Health Check. The aim is to complete 1440 checks and the pilot is required to be concluded by 31 March 2025. Decision was made in consultation with Louise Wallace, Director of Public Health and Richard Webb Corporate Director of Health and Adult Services.

Reasons for the decision:

To be part of a pilot programme which builds the evidence base for workplace-based health interventions. To identify those who are at risk of CVD who require clinical follow up, providing information and signposting to relevant services.

Alternative options considered:

To not accept the funding, would mean we would not be able to identify any unmet need regarding CVD risk.
