To take the decision on the procurement of
contractors to ensure NYC delivery around compliance for housing
and to meet the requirements of the Social Housing Act
2023.
The Housing Standards Team is committed to
meeting legislative and regulatory obligations to ensure all homes
meet decency standards and are safe for tenants.
To ensure ongoing compliance and to adhere to the requirements of
the Housing Regulator, it has been decided to procure several
short-term contracts as a temporary measure.
• Replacement Windows
• Replacement Roofing
• Replacement Bathrooms
• Passenger Lifts/Stair Lift/Platform Lifts and EVAC Chairs
Repairs Servicing and Maintenance
• Portable Appliance Testing
• Fire Safety Contract – Alarms, and Fire Fighting
Equipment
• Asbestos Testing and Removal
The temporary contracts will expire on 31st March 2025.
To meet the deadline established by the
Regulator of Social Housing - September 2024, it is essential for
NYC to take this decision as it will ensures compliance with
regulatory requirements, maintaining the highest standards of
service and accountability.
Meeting the deadline not only demonstrates our commitment to
providing quality housing but also safeguards against potential
penalties or reputational risks associated with
non-compliance.
To wait until March 2025 for the contracts to
be procured.
This option was ruled out as this would leave the Council
vulnerable and at risk of being non-compliant and or fined.
