Approval to authorise the draft CDP response
for North Yorkshire Council and to delegate authority to the
Assistant Director (Environmental Services and Climate Change) to
approve the final submission for North Yorkshire Council to the
external CDP reporting framework.
In line with best practice, North Yorkshire
Council as part of its Climate Change commitments recognises the
need to be transparent and accountable through external
disclosures.
Disclosing to the CDP helps North Yorkshire Council align with
best-practice nationally and internationally and enables the
assessment of our Climate Change Plans against internationally
recognised standards whilst identifying (through feedback)
opportunities for improvement.
As part of North Yorkshire Council’s Climate Change
reporting, Officers have produced a draft response and approval is
sought to submit to the external disclosure platform for the first
time.
Delegating authority to Assistant Director - Environmental Services
and Climate Change to sign off the final version will allow the
Council to complete and submit a full response by the 18 September
deadline.
Not disclosing to CDP-ICLEI Track has been
rejected as the platform allows for progress of the council’s
efforts to reach Net Zero by 2030 to be monitored and measured and
it is included in the Climate Change Delivery Pathway governance
section to participate. CDP holds the largest data set on corporate
and city (including Local Authority) action and is considered the
gold standard for environmental reporting.
Delegating authority to Assistant Director - Environmental Services
and Climate Change to sign off the final version will allow the
Council to complete and submit a full response by the 18 September
deadline.
