Acceptance of the recurring direct award Bikeability grant of £229,350 offered from Active Travel England to fund Bikeability cycle training across the county for the financial year 2025-2026 is approved

Reasons for the decision:

Continuation of the Bikeability child cycle training scheme across North Yorkshire.

Alternative options considered:

Officers continue to investigate potential alternative sources of funding.

If the scheme remained in house, schools could be charged the full cost of the shortfall currently supported by CPE contributions. The fee per pupil would need to increase from £18 per head to £21.87. Feedback from schools indicates that this increase would not be affordable and is not recommended.
