To approve the updated policies for North Yorkshire Council Archives & Records, for the purpose of guiding day to day management of the archive and for maintaining accreditation.
Up to date policies to direct the operation of Archives & Records team is essential for the maintenance of national accredited status awarded by Arts Council England.
Alternative considered was not to respond to the invitation for renewal of accredited status, however this was discounted as the North Yorkshire Archive has enjoyed nationally accredited status for a number of years, which raises the profile of archive services by building confidence and credibility, through increased awareness and understanding. Accreditation also helps archive services focus their work and adapt and respond to user needs and interests.
