Decision details

Digitisation of the Councils On and Off-Street Parking Traffic Regulation Orders (TRO’s)

Decision Maker: Corporate Director of Environment

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: Yes

Is subject to call in?: Yes

Purpose:

The purpose of this report is to seek approval for the expenditure of approximately £850,000 to digitise the Council's On and Off-Street Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs).
It is requested to approve the proposed expenditure of approximately £850,000 for the digitisation of the On and Off-Street TROs.

Decision:

To procure a new Digital Traffic Order System.

Reasons for the decision:

The Department for Transport has decreed that by October 2025 that all new Traffic Regulation Orders are to be in a digital format and uploaded to a central digital store.

Alternative options considered:

The decision to move towards digital TROs has been made by central government and therefore the council needs to be complicit in order to comply with the statute that governs them so there are no alternative options available.
