Approval to submit an Expression of Interest
to Historic England’s Heritage at Risk Capital Fund for
funding of £200,000, and if the Expression of Interest
request is successful, the submission of a full funding application
to secure grant funding of £200,000 to Historic
England’s Heritage at Risk Capital Fund for the same
project.
To secure further grant funding for the Whitby
Old Town Hall and Market Place project due to several issues
arising during construction that has impacted on the available
project budget and is currently predicting an overspend.
• Request match funding from North
Yorkshire Council to bridge the funding shortfall. This has been
discounted in favour of securing the funding externally but may
need to be revisited in the event of being unsuccessful with the
application.
• Reduce the scope of the project to remove task items. This
was discounted due to most of the project costs relating to just
the repairs needed for structural integrity so cannot be removed.
If any task items relating to the repurposing of the building were
removed, this would impact on the building’s future viability
and use, and potentially the required Towns Fund outputs which most
of the already secured grant funding has come from.
