Faggergill & Wood House footbridges (Bridge No 3839 & 3840)
to Lifespan Structures Ltd for £61,900.
Funding for these two bridges is the Area 1 Flood fund 2019/2020
which does not affect the normal Capital or Revenue funding of
Footbridges
NYCC carried out an open procurement exercise,
6 bids were received and Lifespan Structures are the cheapest of
the 6. The contract is a NEC Engineering and Construction Supply
Contract. Lifespan have carried out a similar schemes, including at
Bird Riding, for NYCC Bridges and their final product was very
impressive
Consideration was given to procuring
galvanised steel/timber or laminated timber footbridges, instead of
GRP, however, the GRP came in cheaper and will last much longer
with minimal maintenance costs over a 120 year design
life.
