Purpose:

To seek approval for acceptance of the grant funding offer.

Decision:

The BES Executive Member for Access (Following consultation with the Corporate Director, Business and Environmental Services, the Corporate Director Strategic Resources and the Assistant Chief Executive (Legal and Democratic Services)) authorised the Corporate Director, Strategic Resources, to accept the DfT grant of £186,165 for 2022/23.

The BES Corporate Director in consultation with the BES Executive Member for Access, approved the funding model set out in the report, with a further agreement to fund Bikeability places in 2022/23 for children in receipt of free school meals.

Reasons for the decision:

To continue provision of the Bikeability cycle training scheme for 2022-23.

Alternative options considered:

1. Cease delivery of programme;
2. To charge schools the full cost of the funding shortfall, at £22 per pupil;
3. For NYCC to fund the total shortfall of £87,499.
