To request approval for a six month extension
to the current contracts.
Approval has been given to a six month
contract extension to the Carers Short Break/Sitting Service.
The contract extension will allow sufficient
time before a new procurement for more specific follow-up
engagement. This will take into account the market appetite for
flexibility of service options, for better alignment with the wider
prevention context and the introduction of the new Approved
Provider Lists in November 2022. It will also give sufficient time
to engage with the new Integrated Care Boards regarding ongoing NHS
contributions.
There is a two year extension clause built into the existing
contract which ends 31 March 2023.
An immediate procurement was considered and
rejected as there was insufficient time to consider alternatives
and conduct the appropriate level of engagement
