Purpose:

Proposal to move to public consultation for a Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) in Scarborough.
The PSPO is intended to protect a public space from persistent or continuing anti-social behaviour, which is having a detrimental effect on the quality of life of those in the locality.

Decision:

The decision was taken to move ahead to public consultation for the introduction of a new Public Space Protection Order in Scarborough.

Due to an administrative error, the original decision record stated the decision was made by Rachel Joyce, Assistant Chief Executive – Local Engagement, when in fact it was taken by Councillor David Chance, Councillor Chance, Executive Member for Corporate Services

Reasons for the decision:


To provide an additional tool to tackle anti-social behaviour linked to consumption of alcohol in the street, in the Scarborough area.

Alternative options considered:

The decision was to move to public consultation, to gather feedback as to whether the public would be in agreement with the proposed changes.
