To award £89,950 of North Yorkshire
Council’s allocation of the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and
Rural England Prosperity Fund to Sandylands Sports Centre as a
capital contribution towards an extension which will comprise a
Dedicated Gymnasium.
The UK Shared Prosperity Fund and Rural
England Prosperity Fund are awarded by the Government to North
Yorkshire Council for the purposes of community and economic
development. The primary goal of the UKSPF is to build pride in
place and increase life chances across the UK. Grants are awarded
through a competitive process of application and appraisal
according to criteria set out by the Council’s
Constitution.
Sandylands Sports Centre have been awarded funding through this
process following a successful application which has been deemed to
meet the criteria of the Funds. The project aligns with the
objectives and priorities of the Communities theme within the North
Yorkshire programme, namely Addressing Rurality and Accessibility,
Tackling Inequalities, and Promoting Healthy and Active Lifestyles.
The total value of this project is £1,196,736.
Grant giving has been selected as a method for
distributing funds from the UKSPF and REPF for projects which
support the aspirations of the programme. This approach is
considered to be the most efficient in providing funding directly
to local organisations and communities. All UKSPF grant giving
programmes are competitive, meaning that other eligible
organisations are also able to apply for and receive funding to
deliver projects. As such, the decision is made by an appraisal
panel according to agreed criteria which determine whether or not a
grant should be awarded.
