To seek approval for the submission of North Yorkshire Council's consultation response.

Decision:

Submission of the Council's response to the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) consultation on ‘Exploring the role of alternative clean heating solutions’ for submission no later than 10 February 2026 is approved.

Reasons for the decision:

The recommendation will ensure that NYC’s feedback is considered for future government action on decarbonising heat.

Alternative options considered:

The alternative option would be not to submit a consultation response to DESNZ. This was rejected, as participation in the consultation provides an opportunity to ensure that North Yorkshire Council can contribute to informing future government action on decarbonising heat.
