The Panel is a joint committee of North Yorkshire Council
and City of York Council. It is
responsible for providing a check and balance to the performance of the Mayor
for York and North Yorkshire in relation to their police, fire and crime
responsibilities.
Its duties include making recommendations on proposed senior
appointments such as Chief Constable and Chief Fire Officer, reviewing the
proposed precept for policing and fire and rescue, and agreeing the draft
police, fire and crime plan. Further details about the work of the
