•Local authority acceptance of the Department for Education
(DfE) Early Years Supplementary Grant to be received in September
2023 with an estimated value of £1.8m.
•To commence the distribution of the Early Years Supplementary
Funding Grant to early years providers based on the published DfE
funding methodology and guidance but in advance of the publication
of the detailed DfE conditions of grant which are scheduled to be
issued in September 2023.

Consultation process
No formal consultation process is required by
the DfE on the distribution of the grant however the local
authority will proactively engage with early years providers on the
funding amounts to be paid from September 2023.
Consultees
The DfE have stated that in order to ensure
the prompt payment of the grant to providers, local authorities are
not required to consult with their schools’ forum. The local
authority will
engage appropriately with early years providers about the funding
amounts from September 2023, as per the DfE guidance.
