The purpose is to acquire 11 new build
properties in Scarborough for use as affordable rented
accommodation to take into the Housing Revenue Account.
There is high housing need in Scarborough for all types of
accommodation, but with a growing concern of rising numbers of
families in housing need who require accommodation. The acquisition
of these homes will increase the supply of affordable rented
housing in Scarborough, and will also form part of our aspiration
to deliver 500 new Council homes over the next 5 years.
Executive approval is required for the purchase of these properties
as the total cost of acquiring the properties and undertaking any
other necessary upgrades to the homes to meet our required standard
will exceed £500,000.
