The Local Government Boundary Commission for
England (LGBCE) launched a third consultation on North Yorkshire
Council’s future Division arrangements on 2 September 2025.
The consultation will close on 13 October. The report will share
the recommendations of the Boundary Review Member Working Group
which has reconvened in light of the consultation.
Executive will be asked to review the recommendations and approve
any related actions.
Decision type: Key
Reason Key: Affect on communities;
Decision status: Recommendations Approved
Notice of proposed decision first published: 24/09/2025
This decision will be taken under urgency procedures.
Reason for urgency:
The original Boundary Review process had two consultation stages. Officers were informed only shortly before the start date that the Boundary Commission intended to add a further consultation stage. Discussions then required to determine if the Member Working Group would reconvene meant it was not confirmed until after the 28-day threshold that a report would be written for Executive.
The closing date for the consultation is 13 October, so it is not possible to wait for a subsequent Executive meeting if Executive is to approve any submission from North Yorkshire Council.
